Before/After
School care

 

Our Before/After-school care program offers a safe and nurturing environment where children can unwind, engage in fun activities, and receive homework help. With dedicated supervision, kids will have the opportunity to participate in sports, dance, and other exciting activities, all while developing social skills and staying active. It’s the perfect balance of learning and play! Our Story Hour program is a one-hour program for students that get dismissed at 1:50 p.m. but might have a sibling that gets dismissed at 3:05 p.m. 

 

General program information

Students enrolled in Before Care will need to be signed-in with Ms. Figuera in the Main Cafeteria by their parent/guardian(s) daily.

Students enrolled in Story Hour and After School Care will receive a snack, have time for homework and will participate in various indoor and outdoor activities with children of her/his grade level.

If your child is unable to eat the snacks provided by the before/after school program, please contact our office at (305)271-5958.

In this case, parents will be responsible for providing a nutritious snack that suits the needs of their child(ren). 

ALL students enrolled in Story Hour and After School Care are dismissed on 80th Avenue, entering Gate #5. Before School Care, After School Care and Story Hour are each charged monthly.

 

Before Care

• Hours of Operation: 7:00AM-8:00AM

• Cost: $6.00 daily rate

 

After School Care

• Hours of Operation: Dismissal to 6:00PM (Monday-Friday).

• Open to students in grades PK-8th 

• Cost: $12/day (REGULAR RATE); $11/day (REDUCED RATE)

• Siblings who did not get approved for a reduced rate nor applied for a reduced rate using the Income Survey Form are eligible for a discount for a second child.

 

Story Hour

• Hours of operation: 1:50PM-3:05PM

• Open for students in grades PK-1st 

• Story Hour 5 Day is Monday-Friday

• Story Hour 4 Day does NOT include Wednesday’s.

 

All payments are made through FOCUS Payment System that is only accessible through parent portals via dadeschools.net.

Student(s) MUST be registered onto the parent account, otherwise, parents will be unable to access FOCUS.

 

Sibling Discount

The sibling discount rate will be applied to those families that have two (2) or more children simultaneously registered in the after-school care program and do not qualify for free/reduced rate.

 

Late Payment Fee 

A late payment fee of $10.00, per student, per incident, and per program, will be charged for payments that are not received prior to the start of the next service period. All late payment fees will be added to your “FOCUS” online account and must be paid prior to the start of the next payment period. Parents are given a payment window of one week prior to the new month to make their payments in anticipation. If a payment is not received before the new month begins, you will be charged a late fee of $10.00.

 

Late Pick-up Fee  

A late fee of $10.00, per student, per 15 minutes, will be charged for children not picked up on time. Consistently being charged a late pick-up fee may result in the child being withdrawn from the program. All late pick-up fees will be added to your “FOCUS” online account and must be paid prior to the start of the next payment period. Late pick-up fees will take effect as of 6:00PM.

 

Student Accident Insurance

It is mandatory to obtain the Health Special Risk, Inc. (HSR) Student Accident Insurance issued through the district. No child may participate in or attend the before and after school care program without this insurance.  This is a supplemental insurance plan, and it is required even if you already have family or individual medical insurance coverage. This supplemental insurance plan does not take the place of family or individual medical insurance coverage. 

 

Students that wish to enroll in Before care, After care, Story Hour but do not have verified proof of the required Health Special Risk, Inc. (HSR) Student Accident Insurance will not be considered registered for a program even if they have paid for the program or class. Students without the HSR Student Accident Insurance will not be able to participate or attend the program if the program they have paid for or signed up for requires it.

Steps to Register for Before/After School Care 

1. Register on FOCUS via the Parent Portal and add your child to your Parent Portal account.

2. Purchase Insurance.

3. Make a payment on FOCUS.
